I come from London originally but have been in Australia since 1973 and it's the best thing I ever did.I'm happy with my life as it is and don't need someone to "complete me". I believe good relationships can only exist between two contented and independent people, who delight in others' similarities and differences. Someone just to "be" with, talk to over morning coffee and the papers, to see a movie or show with and share a meal would be the icing on my cake and, if that evolved into a closer relationship then that would be lovely.
I recently had a holiday in the UK, seeing all the places other than London and I hope to travel more in the future, preferably with a companion. My garden is important to me for it's beauty, it's tranquility and the vegies. Although raised as a Catholic with a Jewish mother, I follow my own spiritual path and that is important to me, along with meditation when I remember to do it.
Entertaining others, either with a large barbecue or intimate dinner is one of my great pleasures and I enjoy all kinds of cooking, especially Mediterranean and Indian, and good English/Australian food too.
I retired a couple of years ago and am gradually learning how to have a life again!
I live 5 minutes' walk from the beach, which I really prefer in winter. My little dog recently died and I recently tried a cat but was very allergic. So I will certainly be getting another dog soon - all that unconditional love and happy greetings are something I miss.
I'm over sailing, after spending nearly 30 years at it and even spending my honeymoon on the Sydney to Hobart! I love weekends away but I'm really not into camping or boating but do love seaside or country B&B.

what i'm looking for
A man with kindness, compassion & a GSOH preferably taller than me and must smell good! Someone financially independent who shares the same values as me. A good cook would be great too! I'd like him to be close to my age so that we would share the same cultural history, music and memories.

- I enjoy The Rolling Stones, Tamla Motown, The Beach Boys,Tony Bennett and Michael Buble and lots in between. Don't know much about classical music but enjoy its soothing qualities when I'm driving. Also, recently, Lily Allen, Paloma Faith and Amy Winehouse.
- Reading
- I like to read A LOT! Probably four or five books a week and anything from chicklit to forensic thrillers and Thomas Hardy.
I have a weakness for glossy magazines which I'm trying to resist.
- Movies & TV
- Recently, Ioved Nights in Rodanthe, Slumdog Millionnaire, the Bucket List and The Green Mile. I love romantic comedies and hate gratuitous voilence. On TV I watch The Vicar of Dibley, AbFab and other UK comedies and dramas. Loved Goodnight Sweetheart and Midsomer Murders.
- Sport
- Like to watch tennis and swimming but don't mind if you must watch footy and cricket.
I'd like to learn to play golf, although I've never had much aptitude for sport
- Other interests
- I want to get back to painting - acrylics and pastels - now I have more time. The gym beckons again and I have great intentions there! I want to learn Italian and brush up my French and continue to travel more - I'm also going to take golf lessons soon - wish me luck!
